Matt Gilliland is a winner…plain and simple. This past season, his Mt. Bethel Christian Academy team went 25-4 (11-0 in region), and capped off their season by winning the 2017 GICAA AA-I State Championship. During the 2015-16 campaign, Mt. Bethel reached the Final 4 of the GICAA AA-I State playoffs. He understands the sacrifice and effort necessary to have a winning basketball program. Matt understands that successful programs have players with winning attitudes & winning habits. He is a player that will do whatever is needed to help his team win…whether it’s taking a charge, diving on the floor for a loose ball, or setting a screen to get his teammate open for a shot. Matt plays AAU basketball with the Leap of Faith (LOF) program.

Matt is not only a winner on the basketball court, but he is also very successful in the classroom. Currently, he holds a 3.66 GPA and scored 1180 on his SAT, which should make him a very attractive prospect for schools looking for players who understand what it truly means to be a “student-athlete”. Matt has a very high basketball IQ and is an extremely hard worker, two qualities that every coach wants on their team. Last season, he averaged nearly 11 points per game while shooting over 40% from the 3-point line on a State Championship team. At the next level, Matt can be counted on to be a great teammate, a great student, and to make winning plays.
