As important as athletic skill and talent is, regarding the recruiting process, academics are just as important (if not more)! College coaches are looking for well-rounded student-athletes that will perform on the court as well as in the classroom.
The higher your GPA and Test Scores are the more attractive of a recruit you look to college coaches. So, as serious as you take basketball, you need to have that same attitude in the classroom!
